This past year of ministry hasn’t just been about serving—it’s been about becoming. It’s been a journey of learning, unlearning, breaking, and rebuilding. Like it says in Epistle to the Philippians 1:6, “He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion…”—and that promise has become personal. Christ has been doing a deep work in me. Not surface-level change, but heart-level transformation. Molding me. Shaping me. Rebuilding me.
And one of the unexpected tools in that process has been fitness.
Fitness as Therapy, Not Just Training
What started as physical discipline became spiritual release.
In the sweat, I found surrender.
In the strain, I found healing.
In the repetition, I found renewal.
Every workout became more than movement—it became a moment. A place where I could release pain, frustration, anxiety, and pressure. A place where I could stop holding everything in and start letting God work everything out.
This wasn’t just about building strength—it was about rebuilding trust.
The Body as a Sanctuary
Scripture tells us in First Epistle to the Corinthians 6:19–20 that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit. That means this isn’t just flesh and bone—it’s sacred space. It’s a dwelling place.
And if it’s a temple… then it’s worth rebuilding.
Not for vanity.
Not for comparison.
Not for performance.
But for His presence.
There comes a moment when you realize:
“I don’t just want to feel better—I want to be set apart.”
Surrendering the Mind, the Future, and the Body
God has been teaching me that surrender isn’t a one-time decision—it’s a daily discipline.
-
Surrendering my mind means letting go of anxiety and choosing trust over control.
-
Surrendering my future means believing He sees what I can’t.
-
Surrendering my body means honoring Him with how I live, move, eat, and rest.
This is where faith meets action.
As Epistle to the Romans 12:1 calls us, to offer our bodies as a living sacrifice—not just in worship services, but in everyday choices. Even in the gym. Even in discipline. Even in showing up when it’s hard.
Rebuilding the Temple
Rebuilding doesn’t happen overnight. It’s slow. Intentional. Sometimes painful.
There are days of strength—and days of struggle.
Days of clarity—and days of doubt.
But every rep, every prayer, every moment of obedience is a brick being laid.
God isn’t just interested in fixing what’s broken—He’s committed to transforming it into something holy.
This rebuilding process looks like:
-
Choosing discipline over distraction
-
Choosing purpose over passivity
-
Choosing presence over pressure
And most importantly—choosing Him daily.
A New Vision: Strength for His Glory
I’m beginning to see that this journey isn’t just about me.
It’s about stewardship.
If my body is a temple, then my health is an act of worship.
If my strength increases, it’s so I can serve better.
If my mind is renewed, it’s so I can lead clearer.
This is bigger than fitness. This is formation.
Final Reflection
Right now, I believe God is calling me into a deeper place of surrender.
To lay down my worries.
To trust Him with my future.
To give Him full access to rebuild what I’ve neglected.
Not just spiritually—but physically.
This is the season of rebuilding the sanctuary.
And I’m learning that when God rebuilds something, He doesn’t restore it to what it was—He transforms it into what it was always meant to be.
So this is my prayer:
“Lord, rebuild my temple.
Make my body a place where Your Spirit dwells freely.
Let every discipline bring You glory.
And let my life reflect that You are still working—still shaping—still finishing what You started.”
